Panelists of the COVID-19 Oral History Project

On November 10, 2022, Dr.George participated in a community engagement panel discussion entitled “Health, Humanities, and Lessons from COVID-19” in Bunche Park. This event was a collaboration with the University of Miami (UM), Florida International University (FIU), and Florida Memorial University (FMU); South Florida’s only Historically Black University. The panel featured leaders from the city of Miami Gardens, members of FIU’s Honor’s College and the School of Medicine, philanthropic leaders, and members of the UM Miller School of Medicine, including Dr.George in her role as Associate Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion . In addition, members of the community shared their experiences with the COVID-19 pandemic and the ways they felt supported, and the areas in which the community at large can improve.
