In May, leaders of Sylvester, Miller School, and Northeast Nigerian Universities convened to increase health equity, research, and collaboration. Dr.George and Dr.Schlumbrecht have worked with the Nigerian Collaborators for the last four years on studies such as the African-Caribbean Single Cell (sc) Network studying cancers such as those of the breast and ovary. A 25-person delegation across eight universities and the Nigerian Universities Commission participated in a week-long conference in collaboration with the University of Miami’s Center for Global Black Studies and Sylvester’s Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The conference facilitated collaboration to promote novel research studies, training opportunities, and improved clinical care.
